The car? Well is was judering a bit last sunday, on wednesday it cut out. I rolled to a stop and after a very short time it restarted. Then thursday it cut out again and wouldn't start again for about 10 mins, now it starts, goes some distance then cuts out. So i reckon something is getting hot and cutting out. Any ideas what?

By reputation, the only thing which goes wrong with a GLT is corrosion of the fuel pump fuse (in the little box behind the battery). Renix units can suffer failures, but it's rare. Have a tinker with the fuse and see how you get on!

Doesn't this have an "ignition amplifier" module - its bolted to the body somewhere, its a silver cubey thing looking like a heatsink - check if this thing is a bit too hot when it conks out.

unbolt it, clean the underside and the piece of body where it mates up. then add some heatsink paste, should be ok.

Best way to tell if it's the amp module is when it cuts out the revs drop to zero on the tacho BEFORE the engine actually stops.

(its a common problem on 7 series volvos but I've not seen it on a 300 yet*)

300s with Renix ignition don't have these, but you're absolutely right - they're one of the few things which commonly fail on 2/7/900s.

I have a feeling pre-Renix 360s might have them, mind you...

cheers
