If one fits, they'll all fit - from the ~70bhp SDI to the 150bhp PD.
The 240 is here...

Re: 340 and BMW 2.5 straight 6
What's wrong with the Renault 1.9TD from 440/460, that at least will bolt straight into a 1.7, or even the Tdi unit from the S/V40?

Re: 340 and BMW 2.5 straight 6
There is a major problem with high performance diesels in 300s...if you want one to go properly quickly, it'll be generating huge torque, which is bad for the drivetrain. A petrol engine (preferably a high-revving normally aspirated one) with its more drivetrain-friendly power/torque relationship is a better idea.
In other words...a diesel 300 is a good idea, especially for a daily driver opposed to a high-performance build...but keep an eye on the torque. Even a 360 drivetrain is likely to struggle with the torque generated by anything which makes more than about 200bhp (which includes the latest 2.0 units... )....probably best part of 300lbft.
