Dropped the grinder

Post by L14MNP »

whilst workin under the car earlier, I was lying on me creeper and luckily had a full face visor on and gloves, but no arm protection.

Needless to say it was running at the time. Left a canny gash in me arm thanks to it being fitted with one of these Image

Fortunate really, as a few minutes earlier I was using a 1mm cutting disk and I think that may stung a bit more! Then again, I wouldn't have been holding it the same way...

Lol noob. I do often get comments off the A52 guys like "you've not used a grinder much, have you?" due to the way I leave it running on the floor whilst adjusting my mask/position/beer.

I know my way around a grinder better than you do your own 4" 'tool'. Just got it snagged on the edge of a panel, and combined with a loose grip it was pulled out of me hand.

I have hit myself in the chest with a 9" grinder fitted with a diamond disk once whilst chopping up a mk1 XR2. Snagged it on the bulkhead whilst using it in a dodgy way - no guard again - thank fuck it was winter and I had loads of layers on! Didn't dare look down incase I had bust open my ribcage.

I never leave it going on the floor mind, mostly cos mine doesn't have a guard - can't get in nowhere if it does. So it would be sketchy to pick back up! A mate of mine can't seem to grasp the fact that he should lay his grinder on it's back whilst letting it run down, he seems to prefer forcing it to stop on the bench/floor/car.

There's no A52 (maybe 51 though :D ) up here. If I don't do it, it don't get done. WEAK. :360:

I always use the guard, however one time I moved it around to allow better access in a wheel arch, wasn't used to the position and stuck my finger between the worn disk and the guard. It wasn't so bad the blade removed about 2mm of flesh quickly and I was able to remove the finger easily because it was no longer trapped

Disks can touch your skin (esp thick brinding disk) and don't do too much damage if there is no pressure but brushes just have to look at your skin to remove it. I would not use it without the guard, even though the guard doesn't really cover brushes.

I have a air die grinder + dremel type thing for really tight access.

Nasty, ive been doing a lot of grinding the last few months myself. You forget how aggressing the things are after a while. not a nice reminder that. Hope you're nearly there with the underside.

I was wearing this when it got caught in the grinder just a month or two back
