*** please help F7R conversion problem***

Post by pulsarjoe »

hi there everyone I am a 340 1.8 16v owner and am trying to convert a friends 340 from 1.7 to 2.0 and are struggling to get in running. As I have a car with an F7P, we have access to lots of spares that we know work and so far this is the situation.
We have a signal to the injectors tested with the noid light, however the sparks is VERY weak! Having swapped all components from my car to my friend we have found a wiring/voltage issue. We are using the F7R coil which is new and this is what we found:

three wires

1. 12V
2. Ground
3. 0.4 V dropping to 0.2 volts under cranking

on my car we found

on wire 3. 2.5 V with 3.5 under cranking and whilst running (approx. it was last week lol)

A friend said to check the wiring to the newly fitted rev counter clocks but with no difference

Would be very grateful if someone could give some advise as I am not great with wiring and am confused with what is producing this voltage

thanks in advance

joe

Might be a daft suggestion, but have you tried another battery / jump starting?

Sometimes batteries can wear and don't hold current when under load
