You're a regular little knight in shining armour, aren't you?

That would be great if you can spare it - how much do you want for it posted to the mainland?

Right, well, I've got the replacement resistor pack now, thanks to MCHUDD!

However, I can't find where the resistor is located in the engine bay in order to get the old one out.

I presume it's in the big black heater box under the windscreen, but I can't find the third retaining screw/bolt to undo it and remove/open it. I've removed the top two which attach it to the bulkhead but the Haynes manaul says there's anothe other lcoated in the car, but doesn't say where! Where is it please? Anyone? Anything else I need to look out for/disconnect?

Or am I in the wrong place altogether?

Car's a 1986 Mk3 360 GLE saloon.

Cheers

Aah, scratch that. I found it.

Replaced the resistor pack, but no dice I'm afraid. :?

The heater fan is now not switching on at all, so I suppose the fan motor has gone. Could it be anything else? The fam itself spins freely by hand in both directions if that gives any clues. :?:

sm4 for any help.

Hi mate.
Take the fan motor of the car and run it accross the battery.
If it does not work, your fan is knackered.
I have a spare :D :D :D
Cheers Mark.

Well now I'm really confused. Fan refused to start yesterday, this morning it's up and running. No problem. Which is nice as it was freezing cold this morning and the car was misted up.

Seems to be an intermittent fault, which are if course the most difficult ones to solve. No loose electrical connections so far as I can see. Hmm.

Hey ho.

It's packed up totally now - has been refusing to go all summer. The fan motor is bust. Do you still have that spare, MCHUDD, or does anyone out there have one they are willing to sell?

Cheers!

Sadly, no. I am going to the Paralympics that weekend to watch the athletics.

Would you care to quote me a price for it, including P&P? I can do you PayPal if you use that.

Cheers,
Steve
