Hi everyone! Pettaw was right I do live in Cardwell...Cat 5 cyclone Yasi hit here on February 2nd/3rd, with the eye crossing the coast at around 12 midnight. Huge amounts of damage all over the town and quite a few other towns close by...winds gusting up to (and over) the 330 km per hour mark. I'm situated approx 8km south of Cardwell and tucked in nicely behind Hinchinbrook Island, which is the largest island national park in the southern hemisphere (I think) we didn't fair too badly at all, compared to others living in town, who copped the full force winds, tidal surge and subsequent flooding.
If anyone would like a bit of a sticky beak, there's some pre/post Yasi pics of the local primary school on their website...

Plenty of other things I could tell you, but the main thing you guys would be interested in, the Volvo (a.k.a the little rocket) was 200km away in Townsville at the time of the cyclone, so suffered no damage at all.

My daughter has recently bought herself a brand new Mazda 3, so I'm now the very pleased 360 owner.
Pettaw has just been for a visit (Saturday of Queens birthday weekend) and of course went to work on the rocket, with the 3 of us tinkering away (Andrew the only one who knew wtf he was doing!) she now has a new lease on life, running as lean as a thoroughbred and ready to be my daily runabout...I've ordered a set of tie/track rod ends and when they arrive the girl will be back in full service again.
Cheers all!
