340 Switch gear

Post by Ron Bones » 30 Jan 2012 06:18 pm

Hi, I'm looking for some switch gear for my new car. The indicator stalks seem a bit floppy and I'd like to tidy the interior up a bit. Anyone got some, thats the indicator and wiper stalks on the switch. Thanks.

It may not be the stalks themselves but the piece that they attach to.This black plastic mounting slides down over the steering colum,so if you need to change it then you have to take the steering wheel off.Theres a quick fix by making a small strip of aluminium or thin sheet steel that you can fix to the top or the bottom of the plastic mounting to stop them wobbling about but i think its best to find a non broken one and do the reinforcing at the same time you fit it.
Gad i ganu.....?

On the bottom there is a plug.
Remove the steering wheel and the pin and it will slide off.

Early cars have a metal piece, and it makes the stalks feel much more like a 'Volvo'. I'm going to copy the bit from a 343 for mine.

FJ may mate. 'That' silver 343 had the setup. Same stalks, just different bracket, and far superior.
If he doesn't, I will get one, as like I say, I want to copy it. Everyone should - before we exhaust the used stalk supply for no real reason!
