At first I thought this was obvious - it's a 1.7 480 turbo one, right? In that case why does the throttle body point the other way? Ok, thats really useful to me cos i need it to point that way, but why?
Also, these 2 pipes I presume are the in/out for the heater?
And do these 2 mean the turbo is water cooled?
Ideally, I need some more photos of an engine like this installed so I can work out wiring and plumbing ideas. Anyone ?
Yes, it looks like a B18FT. Check the engine plate.
The throttle points the other way soley so the TB doesn't sit in the heater box, the water pathways are *almost* the same as the B172K, apart from the fact the turbo is also water cooled (yes, oil and water cooled). Also, block off the 2 outlets that currently arn't being used from the heater end of the manifold (or, better still, find out what they should be and plumb them up, I noted the FPR isn't plumbed up so that's likely one). Green books for both the B172 and B18FT exist on the internet, the first is on this site, can't remember where the B18FT was though, likely 480 club europe.
don't worry about stuff not being connected lol, most of it's not plumbed up
Look at some pics of the 480 turbo.. the throttle points the other way. It's ideal for me to have it this way, but I wonder how it came to be
yea looks like someone has cut both ends on and swapped them round and had them welded, not a bad i suppose? next time im at the scrappy i will have a look at the one in there and try and get you some pics
