1.7 No Go full throttle? Lowering options? What cams fit?

Hi guys I have a 340 1.7 saloon! I'm turing it into a drift slut, I'm welding the diff, got bucket seats, alloys for the front, big exhaust (just for fun), and I'm spraying it next week gloss black or Matt black, which one though?

Any way main problems are when Im on full throttle the car basically dies? My friend who Sold it to me (volvo Mechnic) said its because of bits of solder in the petrol tank? Haven't tired yet but Any other ideas?
Also I really really need it lowered, iv been told rear spings off a land rover defender when cut fit pukka? Also something about mr2 springs? And lowering blocks I really dont understand, dont you clamp the axle to the leaf springs or something ?
And I love a really rough tick over and wouldn't mind some more beans does any one know what cams fit? Preferably one out a scrap car ? (no job)

Whatever you do, don't do matt black

Weak spark usually, oily disty, cam seal, wear lip on cam, try installing cam seal either flush or pushed in further.

its the rear shocks off a landrover btw, and matt blacks been done to death
