Suspension top cup broken

Post by kelvingenders »

Gyus, the bit that sits at the top of the strut "the bit that supports the suspension bearing" and spring in place has split into two parts. I rememberer looking at a forum link of how to re-weld and fix these. has anyone got the link?

Kelvin, you're getting a dry slap for inability to do a search. :P

"strut top cup" in search box in the top right corner of the page. 36 posts found. Page 2, 3rd one down. Click "jump to post".

Alternatively go to Google, click "images" (or just search the web if you don't need pics), put the site name and the search terms in the search box. e.g. "site:www.volvo300mania.com strut top cup". Loads of pics, bingo. sm6

Found the link. I'm only prepared to get slapped by Steven Seagal " I going to beat you like a rented mule" :360:

Make sure the spring cup and damper cup are clamped back together before it is tacked, that way you get a nice seat for the bearing mate. I used 2 pieces of 1"x3/8" bar and 2 g clamps on mine.
