B200 Water pumps

Post by pettaw »

Anybody knows who makes them? I know they're "Made in England" but does anybody know by who? There can't be that many British OE water pump manufacturers out there.

I ask because whilst Volvo still stocks the version for the 200/700 B200s the 360 version with the slightly shorter casting is NLA. I've got the option of a Circoli or a KWP one from Eurocarparts, of which I'm gonna try the KWP one because its 10 quid more expensive and therefore I'm hoping will have a better casting and impeller/bearings etc. I went to another factors and I think they quoted me for a QH one which I don't think are up to much or am I being pessimistic? They normally do QH parts I think.

QH will not be up to Pettaw standard by a margin.

If you get a new one, don't throw the old one bud. I take it it's leaking through the nose seal? If so, I shouldn't think it'd be hard to get a new seal (I've not tried, but 1.7's can get new proper ones for £15) if you can suss how the impeller is held on.

Then you'll have a nice recon'd to good spec one on the shelf.

Unfortunately its not leaking, its noisy and knocking, so I guess the bearing is shot. I've no idea how easy it is to change that out?

There are still ones available from SKF:

http://www.teilesuche24.de/skf/wasserpu ... 4?c=100091

which I believe made the V300 bearings, and are a UK company AFAIK. Why not try them?

I think I have a used B200 QH water pump somewhere (as well as several used OEM ones)- it was in my GLT for a while where it did it's job without any trouble. It's since been replaced with an original Volvo part though.

Cheers

The bearing should just be pressed into the casting I'd have thought, but I've never had an up close look at one.
