Solex Carburettor Throttle Linkage

Post by PeterVuggles » 16 Jul 2012 11:57 pm

Can somebody tell me where I can source a Throttle Linkage for my petrol engined 1982 343? I sent the Solex 32 SE1A carb away to be refurbished and left the linkage in a bubble pack for safe keeping. Unfortnately my son sent the pack to the recyling without realising the small linkage was inside!

Does the Renault 4 or any reasonably modern Renault have the same mechanism? if so could try the local Renault agent here on the Canary Island of La Palma but I don't hold out much hope there!

Any hint as to where I can get the bit from or how I can reliably make a substitution would be greatly appreciated. A second hand link would be good.

Hello Peter.
Did your car not have a webber 32DIR carb.
There are lots of adds in classic car mags that do repair work
and refurb kits so you will be able to get it sorted.
I read practical classics myself and find it very helpfull.
Cheers Mark.

Thanks Mark,

It's a Solex 32 SE1A carb.

The bit I want goes between the male ball joint on the carb. throttle actuating lever and the accelerator cable. From memory it's about 20 mm long by 10 mm wide. It has the female half of the ball joint (with quick release mechanism) on one end and a cable grippiing grub screw thingy on the other end. Between the two ends there is a flexible (ball?) joint.

I've searched the internet for hours and haven't seen anything remotely like it.

Anybody breaking a 343 out there?

Peter

I assume, Peter, that you're not in the UK - for a 343 to have that carb it must have a B14.3E engine since the single choke solex was only found on that (continental) version.

Oooopps - just seen you're in the Canaries.

Try PM'ing Robbert Jan (user name volvomania) - he's based in Belgium and stands at least a chance of helping.
Your engine/carb version was never imported into the UK.

Very best of luck! Mac.

Thanks a lot, Mac,

yes, the car was originally imported from Germany, I think, but some of the paperwork I inherited with it is in Dutch, so who knows?

Anyway I have sent a PM to Robbert and let's hope he can help me out.

regards

Peter
