Rear leaf springs
Rear leaf springs
Basically want the back end's spring rate stiffer and lower than just the landy shocks with 2" blocks...
So decambered springs?
Heard you can double up the springs?!
Or some form of budget coilover setup as well as leafs?
I also have Capri decambered springs sitting, know if they'd maybe fit?!
Ideas welcome!

couple of things to bear in mind, doubling the rear springs raises the car quite a bit!
the leaf's are A-symmetrical, bear this in mind when you're cutting the extra leaf for fitting
best way to fit dual leafsprings (also in combo with lowering blocks) is with the std 4bolt setup; and get rid of the locating bump on both original and added leafspring(firmly clamp the locating bump in a vice; then turn the leafspring etc untill it is loose); drill a ø10mm hole through both of the leafsprings so you can put a locating bolt through.
put a bit of coppergrease or special leafspring-tape inbetween the springs and you're done.

Re: Rear leaf springs
Coil overs for use with the original springs are available.
http://www.classicswede.co.uk/Rear_adju ... 89819.aspx
There are lots of advantages with going this way as you can tune the setup and the spring rate can be changed by a known amount. It is a lot more expensive than adding a extra leaf spring but will give far better results.

Re: Rear leaf springs
Interesting!
Doubling up leafs sounds pretty rubbish now.
Can these rear coilovers be specced with stiffer springs Dai?
Also anyone decambered their leafs? DIY methods or paid for it to be done?
Would be good to ditch the blocks.
Also anyone added a budget location kit?

Re: Rear leaf springs
The coil over kit could be supplied with any spring poundage you want, if you already have your own springs they can be supplied without springs.
As far as I know no one has actualy decambered the springs as yet. Brost Forge Ltd should be able to do the job for you. I know Nev did heat his springs with an oxy torch and as you would expect they snapped due to not have correcting heating and cooling. From memory when I looking into doing this before it was notgoing to be cheap.

Re: Rear leaf springs
What are we calling camber here?
The spring can have no effect on overall wheel camber surely, as they arn't handed, just front to backed.

Re: Rear leaf springs
Surely they mean the camber of the spring itself, Chris. Not the affect it has on the wheel angle?
