340 Special Edition Auto 1.7 ???

Post by Vario Si » 23 Jun 2005 11:26 pm

Just been searching on http://www.abi.org.uk/carinsurance/default.asp at car insurance groups, and was surprised to see the a 1721cc Automatic listed? Does this exist - and is it variomatic or traditional style automatic?

must be an error.

as far as I know, the 1700 has never had a automatic. like the B200.

the B172K had too much torque at lower revs, for the variomatic. it would cause belt slippage.

never heard of a traditional auto. box in a 300 series

Must be an error... NEVER heard about a 1.7 variomatic.... And the vario was the only automatic version available for the 300 series... But for a 400 series it's possible, variomatic or traditional automatic was available

Yeh, I thought this must be an error... funny it being on the 'Association of British Insurers' database...

Anyway, in true 'me' fashion I've emailed them and asked them to check and get back to me...
