If it's for drifting then it's going to be a bit wank, no rigidity in the chassis and no weight over the back. Pickups don't really work for drifting unless you've got a massively heavy back axle like in 7/940s.

if it's just a bit of fun, hell why not?

Hi mate.
Not a bad idea providing you have the proper skills to do the job right.
Cheers Mark.

Do it !!!
Would be the most unusual 300 series around...a definite conversation piece (with bragging rights  )

Best is to talk to your local VOSA station, mine were really friendly when I had to go there for a VIC check. They are the guys who will be doing the checks.

I thought there was no longer a "category" for car derived pick ups (conversions), so they were now impossible to register or mot?

Braced or brazed?

Sounds like you have a skills to do the job and it would make something different. I would say go ahead, I'd build one myself but for me a van is more practical than a pick up.

I would plan out how you are going to cap the edge of the bed, I you are going to build the bed and seal it. How you are going to close the back off, how you are going to build the tailgate etc.

blame auto correct on the stupid mac well not going to do a lift down tailgate to much hassle because of the rear lights going to seal it, and if you can imagine boxed all the way around with a floor probably in chequered plate unlike the one from abroad i.e the four door which seems more filler than welding but got to plead with the old chap and vosa to allow me to do it, as i share unit space with my old chap currently taking up one of his spaces :D
