If you have been into F@#ds then you will be surprised how much better to start with the Volvo is.

There is development in an LSD, but for drifting welding the diff is the way to do it.

What engine do you have 1.4 or 1.7?

What is your goal for the car, fast road, rally, drift, track or shopping trolley?

mmmh dunno about how much better lol

Basically where I stand is gona be taken my cossy off the road for the winter and the 340 poped up proper cheap like £80 cheap with a full tank of petrol ! old laddie was going to be scrapping it as she was giving up n driving haha so thot it myt be a fun wee car for playing with / being a menace and saved it from the crusher !

Its the 1.7 its a Renault engine tho isn't it ?

was worried didna know how well half shafts would hold up if I welded the diff ? also how strongs the props ?

is there manifolds for 40's out there ?

Props are the weak link. To give the prop the best chance you need to make sure both the engine and gearbox mounts are in the very best shape.

I can do the manifolds for the 1.7 but they are to order only as they are not a common seller.

The engine is Renault and gives the option of changing to the 2ltr 8 or going 16 valve in either 1.8 or 2ltr version.

To be fair they do rev fairly well and are pretty strong. There some hotter cams available, or you could drop in a formula Renault engine!

There are a few guys drifting 1.4's but the 360 is a better base to start with.
