Opinions please? Does this stiffen the ride a lot? I understand it is the front shocks from a landy 90/110. Any variant?

I'm replacing the rears anyway, willing to give this a shot. Are all the front shocks re-oilable or is it just the originals? haven't looked at the front yet but i know one was replaced from the service history.

All opinions welcome.
cheers.
Hi mate,
I've spent a year or so using these cars for drifting. You can go down this route but it's only really worth it with a lowered car and welded diff. Bearing in mind that it will not be "stiff" as you'd like to imagine it would be. It will be horrible, crashy and bouncy for daily use. The adjustable dampers available from on here are worth the money, even if you just do the rears. Failing those just some NOS dampers would probably be quite nice. Again though it depends what you're aiming to use the car for - drifting, daily or fast road car?
Daily driver that handles better than the costa concordia?

I'm wondering why that has broken, with the uneven camber and bearing noise? Should be -2 +/-0.5 degrees each side on the camber.

A broken shock would be consistent with a bent axle.

NOS shocks or adjustables. You'll hate the landy shocks :)

Gone for some cheap KYB oilers for the moment. It will let me get the car over to my body guy while we have a prod about. Need to do more research really before I commit to an expensive decision. LPG and VRT coming soon. 650 euros gone just there, :x Bloody government.

Do the towbars sell? I'm removing this one soon. Bloody birds nest of wiring with it but shouldn't be too much of a job. What would you guys do with the bolt holes, weld them up or just paint them?
cheers.

Nah, bloody heavy and I've got 3 here for two cars. :?

The last one I got from a mate, he took it off before sending his 340 to the scrapman. He tried Ebaying it for £9.99 starting bid. I reminded him that I had dibs on it. The auction ran, it never sold. Even got him to fit it to my car

Sit on it, maybe they'll suddenly become desirable and fashionable. 8)

Just like my gold 360, an '83 5 door with the same lovely brown trim! Looks to be in a bit better condition than mine, which has just turned 89,000 miles.

Mine knocks on bumps (someone's put a GLT back box on and it hits the rear spring hanger).

They certainly pull well when you put your foot down.

Looks like a nice example!

What a difference. Got the shocks on tonight, best 50 euro I ever spent. Took her out for a quick spin on the country lanes, not the best handling but totally acceptable. Drives lovely, now for the towbar removal. I guess it's going to the steel bin. Thanks for the info macplaxton.

@Hell driver. I am surprised by the power. Just right for it. Surprised myself leaving a junction with a bit of tail wagging on some gravel, great to be in a car with rear wheel drive again.

I'm liking this car more and more. :360:

 I have a loft full of stuff that may (or may not) do just that.

How are the dealers availability on parts for these cars? I appreciate some common parts are unavailable but do they still have things like diff oil seals and gear linkage bushings?
Cheers.

VRT is import tax. Supposedly not legal under European law but they still have it here. 200 euro for a classic to be registered.

I've had a look around your site Dai, I'll be ordering a complete set of poly bushings at some point. First I want to tackle the drivetrain, there is oil leaking from the transmission/diff. Looks to be from the front or the sides of the diff. Also need to replace the clutch release bearing (noisy) and possibly the clutch.

She's going to get her rust sorted this coming week, if that is not too expensive I will be getting the LPG kit on her too. First things first though, today I am removing the towbar. If I still have time after that I might just have a go at sealing up the water pump leak.

Technically, it's a Vehicle Registration Tax for a vehicle's first registration in the state (though it is effectively an import tax and distorts the market). Don't feel too hard done by, as the Dutch have BPM and the Portuguese ISV, so Ireland isn't alone in milking it. It is legal http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/co ... tax_en.htm , but it doesn't fit well with idea of "free movement of goods".

Look on the bright side, at least the annual Motor Tax is €56 (£48) and not the €264 (£225) that is for the same car in the UK.

It looks it, I'm planning to drop the entire drivetrain from the bellhousing, then i can get the diff and trans up on the bench for the oilseals, the release bearing is definitely bad, got my eye on one on ebay but waiting to inspect the clutch first. Looking through the service history it looks like it was last renewed in 2004 when the volvo dealer did it and skimmed the flywheel.
