Seeing as it's raining here all week, I more than likely wouldn't be able to drive the car.

I resistance tested the circuit for the coolant temp sensor and it seems that the sensor is definitely faulty... It still runs really rich no matter what resistance I set for the circuit after bypassing the sensor though, so I've got a wide band o2 sensor kit coming in express post which will hopefully be here by friday. We can then start playing around with the fuel pressure and have the car on the road by the end of the week.

Cheers.

And more problems.

The ecu we got from finland, I suspect is meant to run off a MAP sensor and not an air flow meter as it keeps the AFR at 10:1 no matter what we do, and the other ecu that came with the car has the internal immobilizer so that doesn't start up sm2
I'm going to be ringing up a wrecker on monday for an ecu that doesn't have the internal immobilizer. Else I have to source out an aftermarket one.

Cheers.

What ECU part number is the loom supposed to running? I have a manual P1 V70 T5 ecu that was running 300BHP if will be the right type for you, no imobiliser.

I'm not sure. The loom has a 4 pin airflow meter connector. I've ordered a 0 261 203 071 (for an 850 t-5) off e-bay but if that doesn't work I'll give you a message. I believe all the ones post '96 have the internal immobilizer chip that require a key and a transponder.

Well, I got it running and got to drive it for a few days. The lifters were ticking away a bit, but I thought that was usual being a fresh motor. Tonight I was on my way home and she spat a lot of oil and made really bad noises. It had a really loud rattle when I tried to start it afterwards.
There was still heaps of oil in the motor when I checked after I had stopped, so I'm going to order a new oil pump and lifters tomorrow and hopefully that's all it will be. Don't really want to have to pull the motor out again.

On another note it went really well on 1 bar, and the lag isn't too bad :D
Unfortunately though I didn't get my camera set up yet so no videos.

Cheers.

Glad to hear you did get it running. Bummer about the problem with it. Might be worth hooking up a oil pressure gauge.

Cylinder 1 big end went. Seized up on the crank and snapped the rod.... Which went through the side of the block. So I hope I can find another engine

They are not to hard to find over here. Shipping would be a killer, just for a block and internals shipping is around £300! :?

I would suggest if building another engine to fit uprated rods as the originals are not very strong.

Well that's the thing I've heard they can handle around 450 stock, but I might look into it. The only reason this went was because lack of oil.
Yeah they have nothing in Perth, but one guy is contacting people over in Sydney to see if they have anything. I was told by a Volvo mechanic that a 2.5l block should go no dramas but I may have problems with the AFR so if it comes down to that I'll just have to try it.

Alright, so here's the damage. Also got a bit of her stripped tonight.
Also tomorrow I'll find out if they've found an engine for me or not.

I come with good news.

Rang a few wreckers, to no avail. There was one engine for $1750 with bits missing so I decided to do some hunting on the web.
Found a block and 2 heads for $500 so I got right onto it. Also we got the head off the old motor today and the cylinder 1 piston has hit the inlet valves so we need to change those over. Other than that it's going good, just need to clean up and re-hone this new block and get new bearings and seals and stuff.

Cheers.

Yeah it took a good beating.

Anyway the weekend was full of nostalgia. Feels like it runs a lot smoother this time as well. Next thing to come will be a video of it on the road.
