harsh but fair,
unfortunately i need to validate the story, and check that it, is indeed a production volvo van. otherwise, its just another 340. and ive got enough of those allready. :p

Totally agree, don't see it being a van making it any more valuable - it just limits the audience (which is small anyway!). Off the road for so long I'd not want to pay more than 200-300 depending on the rust given how much it'd cost to make it roadworthy again. Interesting find though, can't argue with that!

I thought they only made a 5 door version on the van. I stand corrected if not!

Indeed, a strange series of events have led to the discovery of this little beast :p
I've got it on good authority from the owner that it is in fact Volvo produced van, and a strange series of events with Volvo led to it being brought into the uk.
price wise, However.
He insists on contacting the "Volvo club" whoever that may be, before deciding on a price. so I am getting the feeling he will want top whack for it.

ill keep the thread updated when I hear any more from the owner.

A van never was delivered with a rear seat. I think someone painted the rear windows on this car.

I wouldn't worry too much, I assume he means the Volvo Owners Club and their 300 series official is our very own Foggyjames who, despite his many, many failings can actually give a fair valuation when needed.

they are definitely not painted. having viewed the van myself in person. I can confirm its origin, although I did find it odd, that the rear seats were in, but the owners story would validate their reason.

ive left it in the owners hands now, as he is an elderly gent, and I don't want to bother him too much, or scare him off by being too persistant.

Do you want it? It's an interesting find yeah, but as an ownership prospect I just can't see the appeal

indeed i do.
providing that it isnt extortionate amounts of money. i would be happy to take ownership of it and return it to the road, what worries me is that it could just as easily slip away, possibly becoming scrap/banger fodder.

I spoke to the VOC 300 series register keeper last night, he's not had an enquiry yet but is going to do some swotting up.

I'll keep you posted if I do get an enquiry. I would broadly support Macplaxton's valuation...although it's arguably worth a bit more for rarity value, depending on its true origins.

I'm not aware of a 3dr van, especially not with rear seats fitted. If (and it's a big, big if) this is truly a factory vehicle, I think it must have been some sort of one-off. Frankly, I think we've all heard some sort of horsecrap at some point about how someone has a "special" factory modified car, etc. I like to keep an open mind, but the BS detector is not far away.

cheers

I was going to say that it's definitely not a production series van as they were all lhd, 3dr and had no rear seats.

However, that doesn't stop it from being an officially sanctioned Volvo conversion (like the funeral cars) or even a 'one off' by Volvo special vehicles.

3dr was a typo, right? ;) Yes, you could be right. The story will be interesting, either way. The rear seats are the really strange part.

I could quite fancy a 3dr van!

Yes, it was a typo. Blame it on Fat Finger Syndrome, also known as FFS......
