Mr.Borrie's 360 Cup V2
Mr.Borrie's 360 Cup V2
This season will be the 3th season i will compete in the Volvo 360 CUP. Since the beginning i have been looking for a decent hatchback Volvo 360. This model is 80KG lighter and my current one is a bit crispy.
Few weeks ago i found this decent 360 hatch i will convert into my new racer this season. When i will lift over the engine and other bit from the current car i'm not yet sure (end of the season would be smartest)
Anyway here a few low res photo's for now
----
building some new stuts and new lowering spring got the from classicswede!
--As far as i can see only the back window had been thrown in with a bottle of Heineken.
Now its not my favourite beer but this person must have haten dutch stuff allot
Dutch build car and dutch brewed beer just dont mix
---
Today i replaced the hatch on the car for a older MK model, at least it fits
---
Cleaned out all the interior and started to take out the insulation on the roof and the floor.
Took off the tow hook also, getting lighter
---
Nothing nicer then coming home from a day at the office and to strip some more stuff off the car
---
Got a spoiler that goes on the old style tailgate, all the mountingpoinnts where rusted out. Perfect moment to do some weight reduction.. that thing was heavy before i started taking all the rust out!
Not i have to figure out how to mount it back, maybe just bolt/pop it and allot of kit
--
Gave all the interoir stuff away and traded 2 struts for a piece of plastic that goes on the back
--
Bought rollbars!
Trew them in the car, i deceided to sand them down first, then i tought maybe i should clean them, while they are clean might as well paint them.
Took them to the garage and started paiting, offcourse i did not change my workclothes, then i hit the bars with my shoes and pants and decided i will do the rest tomorrow
Nice Bottle attack prevention!
true!
--
Have some issue's in getting the lowering springs from classic swede in the strut.
It always goes sideways and i seem to be on the max of the treat already.
Should i secure the spring somehow to keep it from going wrong or falling out?
--
The back is been overhauled with some koni;s
--
Used the press of the neighboring garage to put in the PU bushings i got from Dai (Classicswede)
I wonder how much of a difference this will make on the leafs
--
Racing pins got in the mail today when i got home, so i took a moment to throw them on the car
--
Fresh bearing grease, 6CM lowering blocks and PU leaf springs installed!
--
Cut out some crispy bits, there are only to bad spots worth mentioning, thats pretty good for a dutch 360
No pics of welded in steel it was late and i was tired
--
My dad worked some magic a few days ago, completly rusted out part now restored.
-
got a new fresh subframe from Ruben and JW240 (thanks!) and took the old struds of the racer and recoated them, for now i will run the 4CM lowering springs from classicswede as the new one wont fit the non short struds Koni's. I hope before the first race i will have the short struds from classicswede so i can run 6CM lowering.
--
Getting there, also now with powder coated red arms
--
Steeringrack back on, all the bolts back and the wheels are on. Pulled the engine and popped the windschield to find more rust then we hoped for. we have less than one month to get the car ready... jikes!
--
Pulled the windshield to fix the little rust spot. turns out it was a little bigger.
Also destroyed one of the threats when pulling the subframe. A member of the Volvo300mania in the UK provided me with some hardware to resolve this! Thanks!
--
another Saturday spend well, Injection engine back, new downpipe, some welding and the rollbar testfitted

Re: Mr.Borrie's 360 Cup V2
We got the car done, but the electronics are acting up. We are simply out of time. Still proud of the amazing amount of work done. Want to thank my dad for all the efforts and welding on the car. We"ll still hit the elandrun with the silver 740.. Just going to be so much less fun.
Car is turning over but just wont give in

Re: Mr.Borrie's 360 Cup V2
Spend the saterday working on the 360 again
Custom dash
Then used some caliper paint.. bad idea
-----------
Had everything in working order, just had to adjust the clutch cable as the car would not go in gear if the engine was running. Spend a whole day diagnosing and adjusting before coming to the conclusion i had to pull the engine again. something was going wrong with the clutch as it would never really release.
Spend today pulling the block and more diagnosing, nothing looks off except the clutch bearing? was missing a clip. Clutchfork seemed in good shape, same for the clutch and pressureplate
Cleaned it all up refitted the clutch and bolted the engine back
After spending this whole week on this car again my dad and me where pretty tired and we all know you are better off stop working.. but we did not and managed to crack the clutchhousing because we forgot one bolt on the housing.
This car is a hastle

Re: Mr.Borrie's 360 Cup V2
put everything back and also replace the clutch cable, finally got the car working. Spends a day on odds and ends like painting, assembling the car back and get APK/MOT. Missed the race in belgium by hours.. Frustrating but at least its done now
and out in the wild

Re: Mr.Borrie's 360 Cup V2
It’s been a long road to building the new race car. 22 June was the first opportunity for Brick Autosport to participate in a race. With a new car its always exiting to see how it will react and preform.Unfortunately it as it turns out there where still allot of child diseased in the new racer.
One of the grounds of the car came undone and after that the fuelpump wiring acted up. Non of the raced where finished. The good thing was that when the car would run it ran very well. Brick Autoport will have to work on the car again to remove the last issues and when they are resolved we are expecting good results.. the potential of the car is there!
---------
So i have the luck that i ran into the guy (on the street no less) that build the bodys for Saker race cars
We have been in contact for a few months now and i always wanted to have a scoop for fresh air on my racer. Bought one last year but never got around to installing it because it looked pretty ugly. Well turns out my friend is good with carbon and offered to build me a scoop.. allot of work went into it.. im so lucky

Changed the koni dampers to Intrax that have in and outbound instead of just outbound. Drove the car into storage after that, I'll pick her up in 3 months
