Hi mate.
Ask Ride-on. He knows all about engines.
Cheers Mark.

Common way of making a F7R so its a 2ltr bottom end the 1.8 16valve head.

That will all bolt up to a 1.7 sump and bellhousing. Is the manifold flipped or was it run with no heater box?

What are the benefits of the 1.8 head?

Tell me a bit more about the flipped manifold? I dont think this engine has ever been in a volvo so i presume it hasnt been done.

re: manifold - the engine was for FWD in a clio/megane, so with the engine being in the drivers side of the bay and inlet up against the slam panel, it was easiest for renault to put the air filter over the gearbox and the throttle body on that side of the manifold.

that leaves it facing the bulkhead when the engine is turned 90deg for rwd application

this ones been 'flipped'

shame its got such a tacky filter on the end, but you get the point

The reason for the 1.8 head is for the dizzy drive and allows you to run simple engine management.

Flipped manifold explained above

.... or even simpler, go for the 1.8 head so you can use the dizzy, then ditch the management and manifold in favour of some bike carbs :D
