Hi guys,
i'm going to rebuild my 1.7 engine.
In the green book there is a reference to volvo's engine rebuild service manual which i can't find anywhere.
Is it acceptable to use renault's F2N-F3N book instead?
there are a lot of different f2n engine modifications, like f2n 700, which one it is better to refer to?
i checked and it seems to be correct, like, head bolts for f2n said to be tightened 3 kg*m, then 7, then undo all and tighten 2 kgm, then add 123+-2 degrees. same as volvo's specs.
I'm pretty confident specs are the same, just being cautious.
Best regards, Andrew.

Re: 1.7 engine rebuild service manual
Thanks, i saw this book.
That's the problem - it does not say anything about reconditioning of the cylinder head. On page 27 it just says "refer to repairs and maintenance service manual", which i understand is a different book.
Moreover, this green book does not say anything about bottom end - what it the diameter and tolerance of the crankshaft necks? or the acceptable axial play?
and so on, there are hints in f2n manual, like, checking the cylinder diameter with filler gauge inserted into piston ring gap at most stressed part of the cylinder and most not-stressed. this is to decide you need to enlarge the cylinder bore without the precise tools.
if i could use f2n manual it would be very usefull.

There is some cylinder head info in the specs manual (from page 23 of the PDF): viewtopic.php?f=36&t=7259andrew wrote:That's the problem - it does not say anything about reconditioning of the cylinder head. Other than that, I'll see what I can find when I get home in a week.
