I had the rear damper of for a while, not so much functie when driving long distances.. but a turbo should muffle it a bit!

Was literally thinking of a side exit

I'm used to deafening cars, the quietest car between me and my brothers was my 360 (stock) the 2nd quietest was a 3.0 V6 Alfa 164 at 70 something decibels.

All the B2xx are quiet with/without turbo. The B14 are very loud. I wonder what the difference is, block mass?

I've been slacking with the updates, sadly no pics of the work done.

Sill has been painted, halfords have the ocean blue metallic/blue grey metallic (BGM for 300s OBM for 480s) paint code so they mixed up a can of paint for me and was pretty cheap with my trade discount :D

Paint is a perfect match too so will definitely be getting more.

Managed to paint the whole sill and still have enough left to do the rear arch or atleast start the arch when I actually get around to fixing it.

Refitted the door rubbers and have put the rear door back on.

My Dad has been fabricating a new front inner arch and we will be using part of a 340 inner arch as a donor (thanks Thododd) and that's me up to date.

Will get some pics

Thanks, I think it sets the front end off perfectly :)

I fitted an ATS Cup to the rear to see what it would be like and it suits it very well I think, the low profile tyres will come in handy when it is lowered 2" :D

I have aligned the door so the shut line is perfect and it is just how it was. That means a Volvo came out of the factory with a perfect shut line!!!

Image

That is the section of the front arch required from the donor 340.

This is what my Father has been working on, turns out he is amazing at fabricating, he made the rear section of the outer sill just by eye and using a vice he got the perfect curve.

Image

Donor arches from 3 door 340, only need the outer section so split it and will only be using the centre part to get rid of that big patch of rust on the rear arch.

Image

Boot is full of Motronic wiring, turbo hoses, headlights etc and still plenty of room.

Found more rust :(

Photos are being chopped off on the right, if viewed on a tablet put it landscape and it will show the whole photo.

Keep at it, that fresh sill looks lovely! ATS Cups look decent on it, but they need proper tyres and to be gunmetal grey :)

Thanks Steve, I have finally got around to doing some work on the rear arch and as far as I can see atm it is only surface rust on the inner arch which makes my life much easier.

Will 195/50/15 tyres clear the arches if lowered 2" or would they scrub?

Nah, I love the colour it looks way better in real life as it isn't as dark so keeping them how they are.

Chopped rust out of the rear arches, luckily the inner arches only had surface rust and it is all solid so I just sanded it back and will treat it.

Weld the outer skin very slowly! Use a cold putty and as many other heat sinks you can attach.

Thanks Ride-on

I will weld small sections at a time and then put a wet rag over it and then weld at the other end and repeat.

Depends on the offset of the wheels, if they're circa 30 or higher - they shouldn't do.

^ with the R19 alloys im using (et38 6.5j 15) with 195/55/15, i could easily drop it 50mm without issue, if i start spacing them out ill have problems

Sorry luke, but bronze cups look cock daft on a blue 300 .... they might look better on a black glt ;)
