They have made on as a prototype if i'm not mistaking. But i have seen this picture before, and it is photoshopped. It used to be a sedan.

There you go mate, that's the only info I can find currently, though I'm sure I've seen an early brochure somewhere for the van, possibly Ebay, but Aymat will probably know more about that, or Hugh as he posted that picture.

Yeah, I've seen a couple of pictures of the 400 estate, but I seem to think there were some issues with water leaking in, and more of a concern the rigidity of the car was compromised iirc. May be wrong on that one, but I think it was done by a small firm somewhere, nothing to do with Volvo either, but the idea was certainly there and I don't think it looked too bad either.

LOL, very true, water, 480 boots....... nah! I managed to find a site where I saw one of the 400 estate conversions. It turns out to be a lot more simple that I originally believed, and most probably does not affect the structure in this particular conversion. I also think the way in which it has been done could be adapted for a 300 if someone was interested in making something different. As it all basically replaces the bootlid and fits onto the original bodyshape as a whole. It'd need some hefty struts to lift it, and 300's with a boot spoiler are known to hurt when the boot struts fail, so let alone with a nice estate conversion to hold up!

I only saw that on an early model 400... it does not even look that bad on a newer one...
