Hi there again, new cam belt & tensioner as it was a bit rough. new radiator hoses (well I used two from different cars) I had the guy from super cheap & nasty autos and myself sitting on the floor going through the hoses till we found some which would do the job - read a cut here a cut there swap it around a little joiner from the exhaust shop stretched to fit a bingo jobs done.
One new thermostat a couple of new fan belts, oil change & filter.
I'm having fun driving it now.
Hooning to work the other night against another workmate we got up to 150 kms - I was impressed with it. Oops did I just write that?
Now all I need is some decent steel rims, i did some research and found plenty of older cars will fit.
The idle when warm and headlights on is a bit rough and slow (400-600 rpm) - anyone with a suggestion?
Cheers all.
martin.

Awesome work. I was going to say 'carburettor gaskets' but then I realised you haven't got one! The carby models can just about do that sort of speed too, even with holes in the gaskets.... well, if they haven't got holes before, they will after that!!

I've had my 360 up to 200 mate, on a closed private road of course... cough cough... but if you want to turn the idle up on the throttle wheel, silver, accelerator cable goes to it, you'll see a yellow hexadecimal type screw. Use a spanner or your hand and wind that out toward the firewall. Should do the trick

Ha ha "private road" yes I'm sure under controlled conditions too.

I'm not interested in making it faster I just want the old thing to make it so that will be the fastest I will make it go, the Razzers would catch me and I'd be walking to Cairns!

The only things I need to do now is to armour plate the underbelly so the wheel sized rocks that they call gravel in the outback don't reduce the sump capacity dramatically.
I have the old bash plate we made up from last years ute which has some nasty scrapes on it (don't remember doing that) which I should be able to modify and weld together to make a very bespoke bash plate for its tummy.

Those sumps are as solid as the block. Hit it with a sledge hammer and it won't break. So I wouldn't worry too much about that.
