renault 1.4 variants

Post by olie30 »

Hi all, Iv read a thread where somebody stated that a c1j, i.e a gt5 turbo engine, is a direct replacement for a b14 as the head ports are the same, can anybody confirm this please? Iv found this on ebay.co.uk item number 361849861279, would this work for me?
Thanks, oli

I belive you are correct, but let's actually see what the damage is to the head and pistons, there are heads around, and other bits too, I know coz I have a 1.4 :)

Does anyone know how the c1j's compression is lowered, is it the pistons or a plate? Im thinking the pistons may be shorter in which case the c1j is not a direct swap atall lol

Not 100% sure either but I think you'd be correct in assuming the pistons are probably different. A 1.4 engine should be easy enough to source from people upgrading to 16v units, have you tried posting on the Facebook group?
