Firstly, thanks to petavius for putting me onto this site, never knew it existed! :D
I should explain now that I currently drive all things VW at the mo and it's been some years since I owned a Volvo(like, er...10 years to be exact) but I still have many memories, some bad but mostly good of them.
It all kinda started when my Dad bought a 1981 345GL back in late 1983 which he had for 4 years before moving onto several 2 series then 7's. This car got me hooked and I bought my first 343 back in '92 for banger racing for £30. A week later and £80 and it had a years MOT(I couldn't bring myself to race it in the end, that's what Datsuns are meant for) After 4 months I blew it up(151,000 miles on the clock) so I bought a scrap 360 GLS and raided it for parts. Along with the running gear from this(it had no engine though) and a 240 GLT 2.3 litre engine, this car REALLY shifted. It didn't handle, it was a bit crusty at the edges, but, most of all, it was cheap FUN! For a total outlay of about £300, I had a car that would keep up with pretty much any GTi hot hatches of the time(but not round bends!)
Had I more spare cash and space on the drive, I'd do it all over again for sure :mrgreen:

how tricky was it to change the transmission over?

It's loads of grief. You have to have the whole(and I mean everything!) 2 litre drivetrain. The mounting holes aren't there in the body so I just drilled them after offering the whole lot up on trolley jacks and used large washers to spread the load behind it all. It's not something for the faint hearted and neither was rigging up the Bosch K Jetronic injection system(at first, but it's quite simple when you find your way around it) but hey, I was young, stupid and had nothing better to do with my time and money :wink:

Ah, good stuff. Found a nice big box at work today to put everything in along with plenty of bubblewrap...don't want stuff damaged now do we! :wink:
