Did anyone see top gear tonight (27/11/05)

Post by girlracer » 27 Nov 2005 11:41 pm

While we were at my grandparents house my grandad put top gear on, Jeremy Clarkson was test driving the new focus st. 2.5 turbo engine in it and it sticks to corners like glue! Look ok apart from the colour (orange)! A perfect car for Steve P!!!!! Anyways tell me what u think if u saw it.
If u havent seen this feature go to www.topgear.com and go to the features part.

I thought it was great (apart from the colour!). It certainly appeared to have a ton of grip - lifting a wheel in all the water was pretty astonishing IMHO.

Wouldnt buy one though, would rather stick with something a bit older and RWD!! Something I could tinker with myself :) And I've plenty of cars in my head that would do nicely!

i thought the best bit was about the mercedes adaptive cruside control that prevents you from crashing into a stationary car

some journalists asked merc if they could film thesystem for real doing this so merc setup a test and the result??? the merc smashed into the stationary other merc... ha ha ha

I heard about that on a forum, but didn't download the vid, it was supurb though.

And Jeremy was very complimentary of the Volvo engine :) BTW if anyone missed it, it's repeated on Tuesday at 7pm

Is this confirmation from the parent company that Volvo > Ford?! We're stuck with their diesels in the S40/V50 though (not that that's any bad thing).

Some of the S60 touring car engines have been Cosworth developed for some time. An interesting link, perhaps?

cheers

Volvo will eventually get subsumed as Ford's luxury brand - just another arm of the division... Sorry if I sound like a pessimist

Shockingly, it's the work (in terms of craftsmanship, rather than design methinks!) of legendary bodyshop Mynheer.

Yeah, problem is Mynheer did it a long time ago, it was when I was still in 6th form, so 3+ years ago. Ok, so none of the stuff that comes out of there has ever been sane in any way, but it usually looks awesome. Maybe they just didn't like the Volvo...

Stripy 300..... looks like that SE polo (mk3 I think) that VW did.... where they employed some colour blind dude to take random coloured panels from the parts bin and bolt them on randomly. Never a good plan
