480 Front brakes

Post by Carl »

Can anyone give me a definate answer on this? When I had my old GLT I remember Janitor saying you could fit 480 turbo calipers and discs from a Vauxhall Carlton to give you a vented setup. Others have suggested this may not actually be possible.

Does anyone know for sure? Adam, did you look into this before embarking on your slightly madder upgrade?

I'm eager to get my brakes sorted out, but I dont seem to be getting anywhere. I wanna keep it as cheap as possible so if the 480 calipers did fit this would seem the ideal way!

If not it may just be a case of using the standard setup but with some slightly improved components (ie grooved discs, mintex pads etc), but I'm a bit reluctant to do that!

I looked into the 440 calipers and disks not calipers on there own!!! I think i may have a 440 hub i can check distance of mounting holes on!!
Thinking about it, i moved on from the 480 calipers as they are only a single piston. I was going to fit 240 4 pots but due to clearance problems decided against it!!!
Cheers Adam

Ah I see. If you could do a quick check that would be great.

I know the 400 calipers arent ideal, but I figure they'll be better than the standard ones which is a start at least!
