Mods for injection
Mods for injection
has anybody got any experience or information on modifying the le jetronic fuel injection on the 360 GLT'S.

There are couple sites where are some info about LE-Jetronic and modifying it. Especially at the second url there is good article about modding LE-Jet. Here is a straight link if you don't want to read basic stuff about LE-jet .

Well that rather depends on what you want to do with it...
You can probably remap / reflash it if you're clever enough, but you won't gain much for a lot of effort. The thing to do is do some engine work (balanced so it'll rev to 7k, and a hot cam), then map it to fuel and spark accordingly.
cheers

my car had modified LE injection but now has 2x45's so i dont know much about it.......but i have been told it has an extra injector which basically increases/decreases fuel pressure by a switch on the dash !?!? the switch and wiring is still there and i have the injection system somewhere. the car also has 2 pumps but i dont know if you need 2 pumps or not as this is common on rally cars, ie it has 2 coils aswell in case 1 breaks. next to the handbrake is a 3 position switch for the pumps which says 1,off and 2. i dont know if 2 is just pump no.2 or 2 pumps ie extra pump for extra injector??
as i said b4 i dont know much about it
anyway put some carbs on they sound and go better

I have an extra ECU which controls extra injector placed before intake manifold. There is a pressure switch also so it works under boost.

HJanitor - Sounds like you had manual control of your cold start injector....but why did you need extra fuel?! I'm rather confused on that point....it certainly wouldn't help the original post author.
I think what he wants to be able to do is alter the fuelling (le-jet) and ignition (renix) so he can change bits...
An Additional Injector Controller (AIC) allows you to run more boost than your main injectors can fuel for by making the cold start injector make up teh shortfall. Neat!
cheers

i dont need more fuel 10-15 mpg is all i get on 45's when you horse it !
i was only saying that this system can be modded. volvo fitted it to the car so i suppose only they know the ins and outs.
it cirtainly isnt for cold starting i know that.
you are from devon? goto bicklington garage and enquire there because they used to service the engine/car and rolling road it-i believe they are a lotus dealer now,you never know the very man who knows all about it may still work there !!?? i even have the data sheets here in front of me-no name tho-but 147 bhp at wheels@7000rpm on injection !!

Janitor,
I think you mis-understood me a little there...The extra injector you're speaking of is almost certainly the cold start injector. NORMALLY its only used for cold starting, but if you need more fuel that your standard injectors can supply, its a very cheap way of getting extra fuel. It's a very common trick with turbo cars.
If its got 147 from a 2.0, I've got money on it having a hotter cam and a balanced bottom end to give you the 7k redline....or is it a B19 (probably already has a forged bottom end)? ~150 is perfectly possible with a hotter cam and not much more - such is the lame nature of the L and A cams.
Nothing like the noise from a set of performance carbs though
cheers

Fuel mods
Thanks to everyone with their idea's. i didn't mention that my 360 has a 2.3 ltr with a ported head, Gt cam (h), extractors, 3bar fuel pressure reg and a K&N air filter. I have experimented with different injectors and adjusting the spring inside the airflow meter. I also wired in a 10 kohm potentiometer to the temp sensor for the injection but that only made it run rough and blow black smoke. i tried a 65 ml throttle body from an 850. it didn't seem to make much difference. maybe i should just save my money and aim for a turbo conversion.
smithy
turbo conversion shouldnt be too hard for that, as presumably its a b23 (which is an engine volvo themselves turbod)??

Problem with carbs is that they dont know anything about temperature etc... Modern programmable injection/ignition system with data-collector can adjust itself to varying conditions. Only minus is that injection/ignition systems like HESTEC, Haltech, Tatech etc... costs a lot. Megasquirt/Megaspark might be good also, programmable injection/ignition system which you assemble yourself. Need a bit electrical skills though but a lot cheaper than commercial products. I think Jtbo was thinking about fitting Megasquirt in his 360 or something.

its surely worth fitting anything called 'megasquirt' to any car, reguardless of what it does

Carbs still need jetting! That's why I can't fit a hotter cam to the B200K - I'm pretty sure the joyous Solex Cisac 34-34 is already almost at the top of its jetting range.
I would rip out LE-Jet, and fit Megasquirt (and Spark). That is the way forward! With all of that work done, you're gonna have a real stuggle getting LE-Jet to play ball. Fit a programmable EMS and have done with it - and MS&S is the cheapest way to do it....plus its DEAD easy.
Good thing you've got the uber-strong B23 bottom end to hold together all the revs that GT6 will want to give you. If you decide to ditch the B23 and drop in a B230ET/FT, I WILL buy that GT6 if you wanna offload it (and the price & condition are right)
cheers
