Poly Bushes for the suspension/ anti roll bar?

Post by x19dude »

Hi all,
I was just wondering if anyone has ever changed the anti roll bar bushes in a 340/360? Does it improve their handling? As we all know 3 series volvos roll a lot and their handling can best be described as interesting. I was thinking about putting poly bushes in a lancia that I have but also wondered what they would be like in a 340?
Cheers,
Paul.

it'd be a better idea to just fit glt suspension would it not?

Does that work? If so whats the difference between the two? Will the springs on the front be any different / be a little bit too high because of the heavier engine in the 360? If it does work, I know where to get an entire GLS for free! - would that work?

Let me repeat the question - how is the suspension of the 1.4 DL different to the 2.0 ltr GLT to the 1.7 / 2.0 ltr GLS? Is it lower/ harder/ anyway different at all? Some explanation might be nice.

all 300s other than glts had the same suspension as i understand - the glt was lowered and stiffened, and had uprated shocks

Even the GLT is still pretty damn wibbly wobbly. I think you've got to go custom / aftermarket (ie: custom...there is no aftermarket for the 300) springs / shocks. I'd say poly-bushes and a thicker anti-roll bar would be putting a band-aid on a gaping wound....sort the core problem out (those SOFT springs and shocks), and then tackle the 'extras'.

Me? I like the gramdpa-soft ride too much ;)

cheers

Thicker anti-roll bars help a lot. We have antiroll-bars made by Koni in GL and roll is very minimal compared to GLT which is stock. GL also has Koni front springs and lowering-kit for leaf-springs at the back. Koni made those for 300-series in late 80's/early 90's so hard to find nowdays.. :P I'm thinking about having done a custom springs for GLT and possibly thicker anti-roll bars too. Couple workshops here makes those for trucks mainly but also passenger cars.
