My parents had a G reg 360 GLT saloon that made a nasty creaking noise from the steering rack, this was confirmed by several kowledgable people as being entirely safe and not a problem. The creaking appears to be different to some of the loud cracks and noises others are experiencing lately. The correct tyre pressure should reduce the surface area in contact with the road if they were low on pressure, thus reducing resistance and placing less stress in other areas. I'm now not convinced on the noise coming from mine, as it is starting to make more noises on bumps, so anti roll bars will be my first port of call, but the noise certainly sounds different to other anti roll bar problems I've experienced with a 360. I've actually fouind a clip from the meet that has the early stages of the noise, I'll get it compressed and hopefully post it up sometime.

The timing is amazing - I started with just those noises only a day agopetefarrell360 wrote:My parents had a G reg 360 GLT saloon that made a nasty creaking noise from the steering rack, this was confirmed by several kowledgable people as being entirely safe and not a problem. Hmm, Fake has had some weird creaks coming from the suspension all round, I put it down to the fact it had been sat for 3 years. Most have gone now though, but there is still one near the rack, that sounds distinctly similar to whats being discribed...

Sometime when I turn wheel when parking I get annoying bang, bang sound, that is because front shocks have this bearing at top and this rubber triangular part, well this rubber has gone old and cracked so bearing is not carrying any weight, but top spring plate is against bottom of this rubber triangular thing, now when I turn wheel it is springs that rotate and not this top spring plate.
So when turning spring gets tensioned and after force is more than X it will rotate to new position and same again as I turn more.
I even put new bearings when I did change front springs and shocks but no help from there.
This triangular part has metal tube at center and this metal tube should be against bearing, when part is in good shape this center part will carry all load, but when this gets old and partly teared it is giving up too much and that is why spring top plate is touching bottom surface of triangular rubber thing.
Again, sorry for not finding all proper terms and words
Hopefully you get the idea.

Dude...I told you not to reveal why my 360 has been in hiding for the past month. It's been getting pimped. As for me? Well I've always been a pimp on the quiet...!
