B200K issues...

Post by mtucker »

Hi people,

I have a problem, my 360 gle with the b200k carbed engine has seems to be very unhappy to start when warm / hot. Yesturday I pulled up to the petrol station and put fuel in, and the thing just refused to start. Luckly it started eventually but I think that oculd be just that it cooled down enough.

I know the idle speed is set too low as it idles at 600rpm and its abit sketchy down that low, but none the less it doesnt seem to stop. I'm gonna get that fixed.

Another thing is from time to time, the revs just seem to die - they go righhhht down to about 4 or 500rpm - I think its gonna stall so I put my foot down but nothing happens, you can hear it trying but nothing - and after a few seconds it springs to life again.

Any ideas?

I used to have the same issue with my old 360GL (B200K) in the end it came down to low revs (800 - 900 should do it) and the fact I had a sticking neelde valve in the carb (I replaced that and hey presto total recovery).

Don't forget mate, that if you reckon the idle is low, we did that at Nicks house on his GLE, so if he's still around he might be up for lending a screw driver. I'm not back for a few weeks, but if you're still having issues, I'll have a nosey (not that that'll do too much ;)).

Erm, once you get idle sorted, check for air leaks around the carb, and the associated pipework at a guess.

I'd suggest giving the carb a going over - get some carb cleaner and try and give it a good clean out, check all the air tubing is ok, check the air filter isnt clogged and go from there.

My CISAC carbed car was always totally rock solid. How fresh are the ignition components? Take WD40, spray around all mating faces of the carb and manifold, and listen for improvement in the idle.

I'd take the carb off and give it an overhaul, if in doubt. Rebuild kits are probably available on eBay, if all else fails. It's a Solex CISAC 34/34, in case you weren't sure.

cheers

Sounds like our lawnmower last year :( If you increased the throttle from idle it struggled and spluttered with really low revs and either stalled or spurted back to life.

Sounds like the same thing as here so I guess the same advice follows.
