Hi,
Just replaced the rear brake pads and the automatic thingy doesn't adjust them at all. I double checked everything and I can't understand where did I go wrong??? Before I drill a hole to the drum and adjust the screw from there any ideas are most welcome...thnx.

Hmm.. I did pump the pedal about 3 minutes without any effect...I guess I have to open it up once again and try to understand what's wrong. I had to pu the adj. screw to the start position. That was the only way to fit the new shoes inside the drum.

Hmm, bit over 10yrs ago I was school where they teach car repairing and stuff like that, but what I remember there is that drum brake shoes must have right shoe in right place and second thing was this adjusting, it was needed to pull handbrake and push foot brake, but can't remember idea behind that
What I think is that you need to push brake pedal hard and pull handbrake lot of, I think something like 50 times, then push brake pedal and repeat handbrake stuff....
I haven't done any brake reparing after that so my memories are bit fainted

when you open the drums again, lever the shoes outwards gently so the adjuster is tensioned and just confirm that when you release it it clicks over a couple of clicks on the ratchet. Sometimes they jam and just need a half turn to get them started.
BTW loads of fast pumps on the pedal won't work, you need to be slow. Good hard push hold for a second and then release for a second, if its quiet around you'll be able to hear a very faint click as the ratchets go round, but it takes a second after you release the pedal to happen.

Yep...time to open the drums...spent 45mins pumping and driving around yesterday with no success
Well...I ordered new drums, cylinders and everything. Time to make a full rebuild to the rear brakes....just in case
PS. What kind of paint you've used to paint the rear drums?
