after my overheating episode (see oops) I have noticed water bubbling around the part of the expansion tank where the securing bolt gos through,
I think there must be a small crack in the tank , anyone got a spare I can have ?
usual stuntman rules apply , must be cheap lol
expansion tank for 1.7
If you need Mick, I think the one was still on the blueline I found on Friday, so if no one has one I'll get that for you. The scrappy dude makes sure any 300 stuff is Stuntman prices for me
(you don't wanna see how much stuff I had to get home...)

The island mate, and theres not much left I'm afraid, had been in what looked like a side swipe. Some goodies left though, including the renix I needed as Fake had both the wrong one, and it needed cleaning.

I have a spare one from my 1.7 but it needs a good clean as if full of oily gunk..
My 1.7 has done 42,000 miles. Ive been told by a volvo mechanic that for quite a while during the 1.7 production ( up to F reg ) Renault had intermittant problems with the blocks not being washed out properly following casting. The result was that the expansion tanks would fill will black gunk which was fine this fine sand. The result was that volvo had to 'flush out' cooling systems on 1.7s quite often after sales to remove this. As my car is low milage its been suggested that this is what the gunk is...
however, the oil filler cap also gets mayonaise on it when the engine runs so maybe its just a head gasket that needs changing. Unfortunately, this car isnt on the road and is in storage so im not able to give it a goood run to see if the mayonaise is due to the short time the engine runs when i start the car up ( it does run till the fan cuts in so maybe 20mins total ) or if the mayonaise is due to the head gasket....
Id love to drive this car as it has a hole in the back box... sounds fantastic especially when you lift off the throttle!!! however, it wont pass an MOT with that
hope you can get one from your dealer!
