Maybe I've been living under a rock most of my life, but I've just discovered these:

Lightweight forward control 4x4 with twin diff lockers, and it's a Volvo

Also available as a 6x6...

There has been few of those available, condition almost as new.

Currently there is these VOLVO 6X6 TGB21, B30A engine, price 3000€

Page is very slow to load...

There is also tank tracks for bv202, but currently that vehicle is no available, everything is imported from swedish army, that company sells these in finland :P

Then once there was magazine ad, www.savenmaa.fi is company that sell lot of 'cheap' and 'useful' stuff:

Text is basicly: Has driven under 30 000km, call and order ;)

This is bv202, also Volvo, has B20 engine, which I prefer for offroad use much more that those with tires ;)

We use these in Finland instead of bv202:

You can have fun with tires on tarmac, but when you would like to have really fun in rough surface (snow, mud, etc..), you need those tank tracks

These are both troop carriers, very big and very slowe - I would prefer an ambulance or radio truck

Not amphibious though!

Royal Marines use these in this country too - now built by BAE (Brit investors like buying up weapons manufacturers...)

I've been trying to talk my dad into buying one of these so he can drive out to his boat, unload into the troop carrier, and then drive straight up the beach with everything onboard! We're dependant on getting all our suplies in by sea, but don't have a pier :P

Very nice. I think a lack of stability is a relative thing, given that those are more or less second only to a Unimog.

cheers

These are bit harder to get as off-road ppl has already bought them all or buys before they even come to sale.

You can compare size to Volvo:

Here is few more:

It is quite impressive when moving on rough ground, I'm not sure if Unimog would do much better :P

Off-roading would be nice sometimes indeed :D
