Which Radiator?
340 Gl rad is same as DL.
360 looked different.
Still haven't identified the odd volvo radiator I first bought.
I've got a 'project' Carlton in the shed, and a mig: I wonder if I could bodge the rad from that in?
No, the 340's in good shape (apart from the gushing water) so I should get the right thing.
I'll hopefully conclude this post tomorrow.

Aha, what helpful and cultured folk you all are!
V6 man: Laphroig it is! and Tamnavullin is the spey. I'm undergoing a learning curve re the malt. Thanks for the tips regarding the other Islays. I shall endeavour to see if you're right or not! Someone recently suggested Ellen Port (sp?) as one I might like.
I honed my wines a few years back by drinking only single grape stuff for a while, and I'm trying the same with the malt. Some I could slurp quite a lot of, others taste, frankly, nasty. It could be said I'm on a voyage of discovery.
Any further hints on radiators, or scotch, much appreciated!
Cheers
Andrew

Rupert... that must be quote of the month
I've been meaning to get into malts, alas, I drink like a student, and have the wallet of a student, so it'll have to wait until I get (or can spell...) sophisticated. And need armchairs in my barge

Yes, they are pricey aren't they? I get my brother and nephew to stock me up xmas and birthday!
Thanks Chris, for sending the rad. Sunday was a day for the other topic of this thread (rain, hail & snow) so I put off the job until today. No problems exchanging the fan plug, though the double-depth size meant I had to abandon those rubber pads below and above the rad. I don't think it'll be a problem (no rattles).
Given it a test and no leeks present
However I've now developed a sort of opposite problem. One of the water squirters has ceased squirting. Think I'll start a new thread for this isuue, as this thread is getting a bit long and rambling.
Thanks to all who helped in my radiator saga.

Dont mean to kick an old topic, but I've been bodging around with radiators myself last week and found out a few things:
The 340 1.4-1.7 radiator (the big one) is 90% identical to the 360 rad.
I bought one from the wreckers, and the only 300 series there with a decent rad was a 340.
The top water outlet pipe is located about 5 cm's lower on the 340. This was done because the water pipe comes pretty close to the accesory pulley underneath it otherwise. The chassis has a slot that will accomodate both though. The other difference is indeed that the 340 rad has a thermoswitch installed. Mighty usefull for those contemplating an electric fan install (namely me).
The only thing I had to do to fit the 340 rad was to cut a bit of useless plastic on the radiator shroud away, and move the top hose a bit so it would fit bothg sides properly.
As a funny sidenote, last trackday there were a few guys in a nackered 360 that had installed a new 340 small type radiator. Apparently they could get it for free and their original one was far gone. I would have expected cooling problems but somehow they made it through an entire day of all out track driving with it!

Isn't the 360 rad double row, unlike the single row 340 one?

I'd definitely keep an eye on the temps come summer. Husky found that the 340 one couldn't cope with cooling his 1.7 Turbo lump, and installed a 360 one. I also found my original 360 one with about 1/3 of the fins missing was majorly under-cooling my car in the height of summer.
