Suspension on 360 GLT

Post by terry »

I have a 1987 360 GLT with a broken drivers side suspension leg, will the 340 suspension leg fit? and if so any ideas where i can get one in the north west?

Thanks

It will fit although the anti roll bar mountings are different. i'm guessing you ar talking about the strut and a collapsed spring platform??

If they are still available hadrian repair panels make the cups to weld on to the strut. If you strip the casing down you could get the bracket welded on to the other casing.

Hadrian have stopped the repair cup. I'm getting wrm on a source in sweden! :)

What I have done is weld on a bracket onto the 340 strut. This is somthing only someone who is a VERY experianced welder should undertake.
Be very carfull as they can go BANG.

If you strip the strut down you will need to fit a pair of new inserts as the originals are sealed.
I welded the bracket on with it still sealed - not recomended.

George Mitchell of the friends of the Volvo 300 club has just taken a delivery of new suspension cups that can be welded on to the exisiting strut. Can't remember the exact price but approx £10 each.
He can be contacted on 01786 824740 - I can recommend you joining the club as well !

Happy welding,

John.
Current : No 300's anymore !

There are sometimes some cups on ebay too. I'd look for a 360s breaking on ebay as a quick solution. I really must check the condition of my struts.

cheers

Also keep in mind that 340's have lower rated springs and shocks, so you'd need to change that while your at it..
