rFactor :)

Model is made by MJ, rest is my work and there seem to be no end for todo list :lol:

So far there is just few engines:
D16
B14
B172
B19E Turbo
B200K/F
B23E with tweaked cylinder head (big valves etc)
Tuned T4 Engine, which code is too hard to remember, however 411nm torque makes stock suspension and brakes feel bit bad ;)

Plan is to make quite complete engine list and quite variety of cams too, some other extras also.

Just lacking lot of info, damper rates, some engine powercurves etc little stuff :)

There will be of course brake and suspension upgrades, only those that are available in reallife too, also there is money that you use to get upgrades and I try to make costs similar to reallife.

I try to make some incar video, there is still lot of things wrong but maybe worth to do anyway :)

Good effort guys! I've been meaning to purchase rFactor... MJ, I'll pester you tomorrow about cutting the boot of that one if it's not been done already!

How did we leave it with regards to the model, was I going to modify it to reduce the poly count and texture it? You seem to have done some suff. I've got some time now, so let me know what you want me to do.

I'd be happy to have a look at the Max file you have now and tweek the model a bit. It wasn't really made for a game. :)

Oh and Chris, I'd like to do a hatchback version sometime, you'll have to put up with a saloon for a while :P

Good news :)

It would be great if you could check few things, I did write them here below:

There is only few things that would need attention, I think polycount with mesh smooth off is ok for game, but there is some areas where model would need some refining for game use.

Door edges and front wings edge seem to be most problematic area, I think those need to be single surface with main body to get smooth look.

Here is few grabs where you can see those odd shadows that those areas are creating.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that it is needed to connect some surfaces together to make doors look better? I think that is biggest job needed to done now :)

In game there is several parts where from car is build, carbody is of course biggest part, but there is own parts for bumpers, lights, mirrors, tires, brakediscs, windows, steering wheel, bonnet(hood), +ton of other small things.

Everything is then textured with special gmotor materials and there is hundreds of parameters so I'm often quite lost and usually I end up looking mirror instead of glass or something like that, anyway getting better slowly.

I have learned some modelling, also unwrap mapping, photoshopping, some audio editing etc. stuff already with this project, very educating stuff :D

I made also little video, try to ignore that mirror and interior looks as those are work to be done ;)
Sound is also very first test, I took some recording from my car and tried to learn how to edit that to sound good, well it is not too good yet, imo.

Engine was B19E Turbo, bit tuned version, starting from pits and accelerating to track at Spa. Dials are better ingame, too bad that can't put up full size video, would be too big ;)

When I get naming changes completed I'm thinking of giving chance to test this Alpha version if someone has this rFactor already. But I really need to make those naming changes first as currently it conflicts with one car that comes with game. That is something like 300 lines need to be changed so may take some time :D

Now I need bit of sleep again, these days with modding are coming quite long 8)

Don't worry, I won't ruin your coursework, much, as renaming those parts, it may be ready after month or so as I really like to delay it until I have other things working without problems, it would be bad to have problems and then not to know if it is naming or some other issue.

However slowly but steadily it will be done ;)

Video sounded much better than I thought with speakers, only had used headphones before, that low bass sound were missing with headphones, so better use subwoofer for this car :D

I think I know the problem, if you send me the Max file and textures as you've got them now, and perhaps any usefull links regarding texture methods needed for the game etc I can have a play and send it back.

I hope to get this game asap so I can try my baby ;)

Heh, we will make it very clean and polished, well you are :P :D

Last night tested this with friend and we had some good racing, however discovered ton of bugs too. Today he sent me videos from replay files, when he put sound to stereo and picture to HDTV screen, that sound specially was quite nice to hear, little by little getting there.

I think I need to make some new parts available too, GL differential is too short, rpm tops at 5th with most powerful engine, over 200kph and very, very unstable with stock suspension, road is so narrow. I have only heard how stock suspension handles on those speeds, I think it was Makkiver who has been crazy enough to test it :D
