Indeed, great to see everyone again, and meet new people too.
As I've just posted in the Post BKV BBQ thread;
Well, firstly thanks to Foggy and Ryan for hosting the pre BKV BBQ! I can safely say we were well fed and watered. A grand time in great company guys.
The BKV was a great day as well. Saturday night this lot convinced me to join the VOC and enter my car, as I'd actually bothered to clean it! It had it's annual wash Saturday morning, and I thought, hmm, the bonnet could use some polish, hmmm, and the roof, oh well, might as well do the whole car.
Well done to Kevin Devine, his fantastically clean 360 GLT won the 300 section, and he got the award for the furthest distance travelled within the UK to the BKV.
A huge turn out of 300's made the event one to remember. There were some absolutely amazing Volvo's there today.

Ace pictures Steve! Fantasic work catching Ryan mid spray with back to black on the towball! And then writing 'Volvo 340' on Chris' bumper! How many V3M members does it take to attempt to put a rear door card on without the correct equipment? Plus the cleaning that took place after alcohol and BBQ'd food, do us young gentlemen have nothing better to do on a Saturday night? And also catching Andy in his usual hiding place, under the bonnet of a 300, this time changing his cam!

Yep, thanks so much to them for doing such a great job on the food and hospitality and Foggy for his help with my car.petefarrell360 wrote:Well, firstly thanks to Foggy and Ryan for hosting the pre BKV BBQ!
I was lucky enough that the K-cams that have been 'in the post' somewhere in between Canada and here arrived on Friday so we fitted them on Saturday evening. Results, in the form of some Powerdyn runs are on the way later.
Definitely agree pwned on the 300 series front, we even got mentioned at the prizegiving "mumble mumble good turn out this year mumble mumble...."
What you meant to say was....."biggest series turn out in the entire show

PS: looks like I had my head under a bonnet again and missed all the fun

I'll also say thanks to Ryan and Foggy, was a great weekend. I got to learn basic Megasquirt mapping, and my rear bumper got a clean
Tyre knackered then Foggy? Think we should tell them how far you'd driven on it before I had pointed out it was flat the day before
:EDIT:: Just watched Steve's videos... Haha, Andy's car is quick
I had my head buried in Powerdyn and Megatune at the time, so didn't see how it was going!

cheers Gavin ,
wish I could have made it but was baby sitting 700 cub scouts at there 90th birthday bash,
I thought Nottingham was bad but where that black redline comes from must be a far more dangerous place to live ,
I have never seen anti squatter grilles fitted to a car before lol.
glad you all had such a good time ,
and I am sure it was the wind deflectors and cavity covers that made Kev's car shine over the rest

I've put a few pictures up now, although they're not very good. I did like this car:

That there kids is 'area under the curve' in action. I might have more peak power and torque, but I have a massive hole in my powerband below about 3500rpm (you can actually hear when the engine clears its lungs, changes note, and starts pulling). OF course if we'd done the same pull from 3500rpm, the result would have been a little different
Just to add insult to injury, in the first video Andy was in 2nd, and I was in 1st! As well as accurate tuning, Andy has the benefit of a much shorter diff (the gearing of an injection 360 is nearer that of a 340 1.4 than that of a 360 carb) - so a lower theoretical top speed, but better accelleration. I'm working on that though
Thanks to Adam (because I left it behind!), I now have a spare downpipe for wideband oxygen probe installation, so I should be able to clear up that hole in the power curve in the next couple of weeks. Then I demand a rematch
Pretty depressing though - he's miles quicker unless we're racing, and still gets tasty MPG figures!
cheers
James
