Some cars really suit an auto gearbox (a Golf is not one of them). My mates 760 was still great fun with an autobox using the gear holds, 80mph in 2nd :D

Mhhh

my dads 2002 was auto he had 2 a tii 130hp stock(manual) and a standard auto(100hp) we moded the auto to 160hp and it wouldent spin its wheels
they where skinny too so we changed to manual gearbox out of the tii
OMG IT WAS SO MUCH FUN 0-60 in 5 seconds the car ways just under atonne its a real rocket and we put bigger wheels on it for a bit more trackion coz they span too much

That would be because they're both FWD girly mobiles ;)

Nice! You should get some filters on those carbs - running without them is asking for ring gumming, and big wear problems. I know it's 'cool' to run without them, but I think regular rebuilds are a lot less cool :)

its tempory its not been on the raod much since the carb upgrade as we are finding it hard to tune we need a carbalancer
from doing 28m to gallon (fast use) it now does 20 (normal use) OMG somthing is wrong but it really flies like a rocket 160hp can keep 200hp cars away...somehow

we went to a french tuning show and they said this isnt tuning (in france tuning is nice paint and neons and stuff) any way my dad had had a few drinks  and got pissed off with these french guys laughing at his car so he went on the tarmac and did a burn lots of wheel spinning and stuff and then went back into the tuning field and there was total silence...
and suddenly cheers and every one came and looked at the car we won 2 prizes 1. oldest car :P and the other most appesiated sceen :D and some car care products we where also offerd wizzerds of noz instalation but my dad didnt want it he said thats crap and its not real power that lasts.

at present turboing is the only thing we can do more we changed camshaft and ported head turboing at 8psi will give appximatlyy 220hp
the brakes are said to be good to 200hp standard tii brakes that is
considering it had 100hp originally it was designed to be tuned and was very successfull in racing.

Anyone would think you quite like the car :)

Tuning carbs so they idle nicely and give the correct AFR at full bore is the (relatively) easy bit....tuning the progression stage, which gives good fuel economy, and makes the car nice to drive, takes way longer and is much harder!

cheers
