Problems with steering on 360 GLE

Post by pepo »

I am owner of a 1986 360 GLE and have problems with steering. My steering gear moves lef-right about 1" when I move steering wheel prior to move the wheels. How is fixed steering gear to chassis?

Thanks in advance.

Its bolted to the front axle crossmember. Check though the rubber linkage between the rack and the steering column. They rot and can give a lot of excess play.

Tidied up to save having 2 lots of topics.
