went to my local breakers and found he's scrapped a 1.4 340 auto
you should see it it's mint except for a few bits missing
but get this it's only done 12676 miles i could not belive that somone would scrap a car with such low mileage
so i got all the shocks (because mines like a boat)lol
anyway just thought it was a shame
Sadly it's all too common. Too many cars that are just classed as bangers and scrap because they are old, not because they are worn out, dangerous, or too costly to repair. My 10000 mile vario was nearly scrapped, the garage who burnt the clutch out on it told the owner it was no good, it'd be too much to repair and they could scrap it for her. Thankfully she didn't want that to happen, and I found out about it!
A weekend with Andy's help and we changed the clutch, checked the belts, oil and filter, changed the brake fluid and bled the brakes and a couple of other little jobs and I've now got a car that feels like new from the factory near enough, just it's 18 years old!
