TV Advert - was it for the 300 series?

Post by srg86 »

Hi

I remember a TV advert for a car that was driven out of the first or second floor of a glass fronted building (smashing through the glass), hit the ground front first, and then drove off. I remember it quite well but can't remember the car it was advertising, I'm sure it was a volvo and possibly a 300, any idea's.

That's the one, although I'm sure it was for the car.

I thought that was a 300 one, with the "once driven, forever smitten" tag line.
Almost certain of it

I seem to think it was from 1987 and the advert stated "Crashed by Dummies,"? with a dummy driving through a window. I seem to remember seeing the actual car pictured in a showroom somewhere! Pete

I've no idea! I'm a host of useless information! It's led me off on a major search for those adverts, like the one for another Volvo model where a man gets into the car, then in slow motion it is hit from the side, as the impact happens a cassette launches into the air, which he catches! Oh well, more time wasted! Pete

I remember that one. Definitely for a 300, as Pete's link confirms. Would be great to get a video of it...

'Once Driven, Forever Smitten' was from a Vauxhall ad.....but it did involve cars (astras?) crashing out of buildings.

cheers

I remember this ad very well, It was a red 300 series Volvo. I'm sure it starts with the crash dummy getting in the car putting on his seat belt then driving towards a full length tinted window. It then cuts to the car crashing through the glass and falling bonnet downwards in slow motion onto the concrete . The car then falls back onto its wheels and the dummy gets out and walks off, leaving the car with its front end all stoved in but the passenger area untouched.
