tape holder conversion
tape holder conversion
could the tape box holder have its tape holder removed and serve as an extra gauge mount? no idea of its dimensions but at a glance 2 could probably go in diagonally or perhaps 4. just an idea.

funnily enough I thought of this ages ago, because of the lack of available auxillary gauge panels, and discussed it with Pete .
your best bet would be to go for two dials diagonally mounted as you say or one central dial ( but that might look a bit lonely on its own )
It would be a case of removing the cassette holders and then glueing a piece of suitably cut plastic into the gap, a bit time consuming but not rocket science , hardest part would be to find a suitably textured in fill

Indeed, when Mick and myself spoke on the matter, for standard 52mm gauges, they need to be diagonal, which I decided didn't look right and even then I think it was too tight to have a decent surround without making weak points that would crack. It was however a promising idea and a neat solution. Someone might be able to come up with something, maybe using smaller gauges, or even cutting into the shaped part of the cassette holder frame to allow more width that the cassette insert hole creates.
I had other ideas for one, but never got around to trying out my ideas, maybe one day I'll have another look into that one!

It would be a good idea to remake the panels TBH. I cant see it being that hard to mould in GRP
