Should i keep my 340?
Should i keep my 340?
hello
i have had an F reg 340 for about 10 months. i have really enjoyed having the car, i can't identify what it is about it but it just has charm.
when i got it it had a full main dealership service history and was only £100 (with 9 months or so MOT left).
alas, today it failed its MOT. it has 4 instances of excessive corrosion and both front top shock mounts need replacing.
the guy said it would cost £400 to £500 to fix.
another factor is that a friend fitted speakers in the parcel shelf and a sub that fits in the boot behind the back seat.
would anyone advise me to get it fixed?
i would like to stick with 340s for a while...
how likely is it i can get a good replacement for around £400?

That's the problem with 300s - welding costs so much to have done professionally that it'll cost more to do any major work than the car is worth
£400 should get you a very tidy example. I'm asking £250 for my 360GLE, which is a fairly tidy car very little rust, but no MOT.

I'd let it go and buy Carls 360 glt it will have a full years mot and you could recoup some of your money by selling parts from your old car
heres the link to his car

Don't let the rust put you off. To be fair most of the 300's you will come across will have a fair bit of rot - the strut tops will need replacing due to age unless already done.
If you want welding doing at sensible money I'm mor ethan happy to do it (I can get the MOT doen at the same time)
If you post some pics of teh rot that would help.
