1.7turbo

why not 1.8 16v turbo? < ive seen 300hp with quite low boost on these

2.0 turbo

2.3turbo

and i guess theres more but imo turbo is cheating :P

Cheers

forgot to say it depends which 300 you have

340 1.4 to 1.4 turbo

340 1.7 to 16v 1.7 turbo

360 2.0 bolt a turbo on and 2.3 turbo

340 any to Renault any ;) The one I'm putting a 1.7T into was a 1.4, everything is the same, just need a couple more donor parts.

I was tempted to 16V the turbo, but it's not as easy as it initially looks, still something I'm keen for in the future, but the 8V first makes a lot more sense.

Renault F7 turbos are rubbish without throwing a lot of money at em. Can get about 210bhp with a low boost turbo setup on a F7R and they're very unreliable keeping the headgaskets together is very hard.

To run more boost you need new rods & pistons which is just over a grand.

Just fit a B230 turbo can see a lot more power a lot easier.

And don't forget one thing, a turbo conversion is not cheap. I does'nt have to be expensive, but without money you won't get anywhere.

Yeah, I was thinking of doing it the other way, 8V 480 engine, with a 16V head. Just there is more to it than I first thought ;)

I wonder, don't you have that way exactly the same engine than the standaard 16v?

However, there are options enough. But the easiest way to make a 300 fast is to take a 360, and put in a N/A 2.3 That almost fit's directly, and is possibel in one day.

360s are your best shell donor....injection models (mainly GLTs) are best as they already have an electric fuel pump.

The turbo lump comes from a 7/900 - available in 2.0 or 2.3. Both are essentially the same unit as the standard 360 engine. There's conversion info all over the board. Very little needs doing.

The factory management systems for the B200/B230 turbos were Bosch Motronic (airflow flappy paddle crap) for earlier cars (up to 89) and Bosch LH-Jetronic 2.4 (hot-wire air mass metering) for later cars (up to 98 ). The LH2.4 loom appears to be best pulled from a late 240 - look for models with a hot-wire AMM. I have one from a 940 awaiting surgery, but it includes almost all of the wiring for the whole damn car! 240 ones appear to be pretty much stand-alone. You'll also need the matching flywheel.

cheers
