Worn shocks make a difference for the weight transfer

Are you saying this from driving your old car? Cos on decent 195 wide tyres in the dry, you can launch at 5k and only get slight squealing.. and thats running Spax on mid setting. Must say it launches much better on Bridgestone Potenzas than my old Pilots actually.

That said, they're pretty impressive 60ft times for that Clio...under the tyre circumstances :D

I never had any problems setting off in the Volvo but drag strips aren't as grippy as a normal road unless you're using slicks. If anybody ever races at York raceway launch hard off the startline, then when you finish the run pull up on the return road and launch the same there. I will personally guarantee that the car will launch better on the return road.

Well here's a curious thing. I was getting pretty good squat the first time I went. The second time, the track was so slippy that it just span.

Husky found that he lost best part of a second when he fitted Koni rear shocks, as he lost all his squat.

I think I'll have to go again with wider rear tyres, and on a properly dry day before I can come up with a theory regarding what's going on.

cheers

Vickys 340 always launches well (dont do it often due to the prop). I'm sure the extra weight of gas tank makes a big difference.

I can dump the clutch at 4500rpm on road and get grip...but at the strip? ...A very different matter.
