Well :?
I've done some research and one of your biggest prob. is making an exaust man.
Becoase the std exaust brings the turbo in the rong place.
Where your heater is now. sm74
But if you go along with the 340 GTT project don't hessitate to ask my something technical.(I
still have some tech.books. )
I drove a R5 GTT for 2 years and it was a real handfull. sm48
On the road as well as in the garage. sm43
But rust was my biggest enemy. sm38
But anyway i chose to tune my std. engine.
I just took out my engine today.
And i tune my B14-4e engine.(hopefully to 90a95 hp.)
The only GTT part on my new engine is the rockershaft.
Which is stronger.
I wil try out a R5 Alpine carb.
This carb fits easely with a few mods. :D
Just take some parts from your old carb.
I let you guys know how it drives.

This might sound daft, but nitrous oxide works really well on diesel engines, and would probably be easier than fitting a turbo. I'd imagine the diesel has a beefier clutch than the petrol too, though i could very easily not know what I'm talking about. Just a thought.

With the DERV engine LPG is a cheap easy way to get a bit more power.

The 1.4 turbo has been done - look through the genaral discussion forum its there some where

I did it the otherway round and fitted a 2.0 440 volvo engine to a Renault 5 GT Turbo, everything fitted nicely as its the same dimension block as the Renault 1.7 that was in the GTS. I used the 1.7 440 turbo exhaust and inlet and machined the squish bands out of the head to get the compression to 7:1

I'm not claiming to be clever or anything like that because the engine never ran properly due to problems with getting the ECU to work and realising that the chassis was a death trap.

If you can fit the 440 engine to a Renault then surely you can fit the 440 to the 340?

I have the 440 Turbo engine in my 340 as some other people round here.

It's not easy, but it can be done with more or less work :)

Haha, nice and friendly there Andy :-D Those Renault units are good up to a point, but they don't seem to hold up well to elevated boost. They're not much loved in the Volvo world (although the 16v varient is flavour of the week at present). If you wanna go really fast in a 300, you need a more manly engine.

cheers
