Driftmoto do steel props with flange fittings at each end instead of the rubber crap and sell them for about £250. I looked at getting some made but the cost was more because of the flanges.

I`ve killed four props now, two had dead splines and two had ripped rubber but i`m guessing it was clutch kicking that killed!

Superb, thats all I needed to know.

I am on the lookout for a 1700 complete drive system so fitting that with an uprated prop and clutch will make for a strong reliable setup!

Sorry if this is teaching granny to suck eggs, but I'm sure you mentioned a redblock the other day. You're aware that the drivetrains are quite different for Renault vs Volvo engines, right?

1400 vs 1700 it's just the bellhousing (I presume...never looked up close at a 1700 BH) and the diff ratio which are different. The 1700 has some vibration damper widget too, but we don't care about that :D

If you're looking at the 1700 for low gearing, it uses the same ratio as a 360 GLT. It's the 1400 5 speed which has the low diff ratio.

cheers

1400 and 1700 definately are the same in so much as they use the same pattern output shaft from the clutch... don't care about any more than that so havn't looked ;)

Yes i'm aware of the Renault Vs Volvo drive differences.

Are you saying the 1.4 gearbox is the same as the 1.7 gearbox???

Well half the reason for the change is the fact that my 340 gearbox is a 4-speed!!

Which has the wider gearing? the 1.4 or 1.7?

Gearings are the same, and both 1.4's and 1.7's had 5 speeds. The only difference between them is the diff ratios

Not all the 1.4 had 5 speed.

As far as I can tell the box is the same apart form the input end
